Discovered a web site, http://www.trucker.com/truckstops/, that let me look up truck stops off I-95. Stopped at one in Georgia with the requisite souvenirs and diesel, plus cheap pecans for sale and peach flavored Twizzlers.
The word "Yemassee" (“gentle” in Muskogee) is pronounced with the accent on the first syllable, like "Yemen, you see" without the "n." The campground is much more Scout Troop than some of the upscale, paved RV parks (without the electrocutions and people dropping from heat exhaustion...yikes!) All night long, the bugs whirred and clicked and buzzed like we were sleeping inside a Swiss clock.
