The campground was right next to Lion Country Safari -- a drive-through, cageless zoo, the main draw of the area. When we arrived, they told us we'd arrived just before Bone Day! that every Wednesday was Bone Day! They were so excited about this, you would have thought we'd just landed on Venus. Bone Day is the day they throw fresh meat at the carnivores and you can watch them tear into it, while you watch from the safety of your car, where your own tasty bones remain sealed behind doors and windows -- you are not allowed to even roll down your windows for the drive-through safari. I took all these pictures from inside the truck.
We got a lot of juvenile glee out of it being "Bone Day" nudge nudge wink wink. We had barbecue ourselves for lunch, so it was Bone Day for everyone, human mammals included. Bones, key lime pie, and fried corn on the cob (yes -- ! deep fried in oil...better than it sounds).
It was only fitting that the bbq place was called "Woody's" -- where every day is Bone Day (snick).
