Still tropical -- lots of Dr. Seuss trees with Spanish moss around the campsite:
We were lucky enough to be in town in time for the rescheduled launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery.
Many of the businesses along Route 1 had "Go Discovery" signs outside:
We drove down Route 1 to Imperial Towers in Titusville, where Wes' grandparents used to live, right across the Indian River from Kennedy Space Center where they would watch space launches from their balcony of their apartment on the top floor:

The parking lot was full of folks taking the day off for the event, or sneaking out of work, including a bunch of surfer dudes. Who knew Sammy Hagar was a secret astronaut fan?
We joined the rest of the throngs that were parked all along Route 1, setting up with their campers and flag-patterned lawn chairs, binoculars, coffee cups, dogs, and children, and kept watch across the river for a flash of light:
A rumble and a Roman Candle, and ZOOM...! It was off, to cheers all around:
