St. Augustine Beach is actually located on Anastasia Island, just off the coast from St. Augustine. The beach was 3/4 mile down the road and a well-kept secret -- no crowds (but then, no boardwalk, t-shirt/flip flop stores, surfboard rentals, funnel cake, or DippinDots either).

In typical Florida weather, it storms daily, but I got some pictures before it started raining:

Someone's rig caught on fire at the end of the street Sunday morning; fortunately, nobody was inside so the only damage was to their property. Apparently, the guy took his two daughters out to McDonalds for breakfast, and while they were gone, a battery charger shorted out and caught fire. (Some kind of factory defect, he wasn't at fault.) One minute, you're eating an Egg McMuffin and everything is fine...the next minute, people have gathered around like vultures, watching as you dig through your belongings for something that isn't completely burnt to a crisp.... Makes you take another look at your phone recharger -- who knew these things could turn evil?
