Getting there and exploring
the area
It was a two day trip to
get to the middle of South Australia, and we went through a
couple of Outback towns like Petersborough and Oorroroo (where
they had a beauty salon called Oororroo Hairdooz <g>), and
stopped at the Hattah National Park to walk around and get a
better look at the pelicans swimming in the lake.
When you get far enough
Outback, there isn't a thing around you but red sand and scrubby
vegetation. If it wasn't for the paved road you drive along,
nothing would disturb the solitary beauty of it at all. Of
course, we were pretty grateful for the road nonetheless :) And
you can do some SERIOUS four wheel driving offroad once you get
out there <g>
These
kangaroo crossing signs are for real -- we almost hit
one. And bullet holes are common through the signs --
apparently, Australia has rednecks, too :)
